It Is Friday, January 20th, 2006.
The scene is at a MMA event. Located at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. And we are at the Rumble on the Rock 8 event. In which some of the best Welterweights will compete, to prove they are the best, and advance into the Rumble on the Rock Welterweight Grand Prix semi finals on, that will be held on April 7th.
The 6th fight on the card, is about to begin. As the 21 year-old, Carlos Condit, takes on the 32-year old, Renato “Charuto” Verissimo.
Renato who is already respected for his Jiu Jitsu skills, takes on Carlos Condit, who is steadily building a successful career, with a well-rounded, extremely aggressive style that, besides pleasing crowds, seems to be custom tailored to destroying opponents.
Outside of a 11-year age differential, these 2 our very equal in comparison..
The bell rings, and the fight is under-way, as Carlos goes on the attack.
Repeated kicks and strikes, sent Renato down to the mat, and at 17 seconds in 1st round, the fight is stopped, and Carlos is declared the winner, after knocking out Charuto with a knee..
The fans our on there feet, and the referee raises Carlos Condit's hand, but everyone is still in shock, everyone except Carlos, who celebrates casually, then leaves the ring, as Charuto is still out, and receiving assistance from his team, aswell as paramedics..
We now can see a star in the crowd, applauding the fight and decision.
Its professional wrestler, vwa superstar, Tha CBT.
We move in from a close-up, and Tha Cbt appears to be on his cellular phone, as we try to listen in..
Tha Cbt- Congrats on your fight man, although short, you attained my respect. You're the real deal.. Carlos, and you remind me alot of myself, in ways..
Carlos Condit- Thanks for that Cbt, and no offense, but how so?
Tha Cbt- I remember a interview you did. 'which you said in reference to you being cocky, "Well, you know what, in the ring, yeah… I wouldn’t call it cocky, but as hard as I train and as much as I believe in myself because I know the skills that I possess, I’m very confident. Tom said that you had said that I look at my opponent like they don’t belong in the ring with me. Maybe looking at it statistically, on paper, yeah, we match up, but anybody that steps in the ring with me, I think that I’m better than"
You've seen me on the Indy scene, in wfwf, and in vwa, tell me if that isn't a word for word description of me?..
Carlos- Maybe, maybe.. Who knows, I could pay a visit one day, and see if the similarity lasts long..
Cbt- Sure, no doubt..
Cbt hangs up, he then grabs his coat from the seat he was in, and makes his way out of the packed, Blaisdell Arena.
Cbt- Wow, what a fight. The shows not even over, its just Intermission, and theres still Frank Trigg vs. Ronald Jhun, and the fight headlining this night, of absolute poundage, Butterbeam in action..
But I had to cover something.. I had to get the word out.. With Wrestlefest so close, I needed to talk about this 40-man battle royal, and what It means for Tha Cbt, a Main Event match at Super Slam, a VWA World title opportunity...
Cbt takes a sip of the beer he has in his hand, he leans up against the wall, as people pass him, he has a focused look on his face, he then continues what he was saying
Cbt- Valor, the VWA.. A whole new lease on my direction, my potential, where Tha Cbt can go, and what Tha Cbt can do.. You all don't realize the reality of this situation, and the possibilities that lie, with me being in Valor.
Only my 3rd match in Valor, and I'm not a favorite to win, or a Wildcard, for that matter. But I'm Tha Cbt, I did not get to where I've been, overnight. And I'm not where I'm at, because of where I've been.
I don't need people to see Tha Cbt as a great opposition in the battle royal, I've had 2 matches here, and I stand 50-50 with performance. But my dominance has yet to be shown, my confidence is already known. But it will be my skills that make me statistically, the best choice on paper.. Scratch that! The obvious choice, to win the Battle Royal.
Its inevitable. Destiny may not be the correct term for it, but reality is so over-used.
Cbt finishes the beer, and disposes of the cup in a trash can near the door. He makes his way back in the arena, and walks over to one of the vendors. Grabs a beer from a unsuspecting fan, and makes his way to his seat
Cbt- Heh. Sunday night, like this beer.. While theres no obvious potential in it happening, Its mine for the taken, and when the opportunity arisess, I'll make the best of it.
I mean, Aside from a match with Da' Clown, that ended almost as quickly as Condit/Verissimo, the only person on the Valor roster, to try and take me to the limit, was Seth Xavier. No one knows my full derive, but more importantly, nobody knows how to counter it.
Stepping into the ring with those I've faced, Reverend Shadow, Seth Xavier.. Those I haven't, Morbid Angel, Mike Stryker.. Or those who I just haven't gotten the chance to, like ZMaster.. Won't Matter.
All that will matter, Is that when its all said and done.. My match at Super Slam, will be for the VWA World Heavyweight title.
And with that said, Cbt sits down at his seat, after the bell rings, as Frank Trigg vs. Ronald Jhun, Is now underway
