[Fade In]
[In a darkened room sits the winner of the 2005 Young Lion's Cup Tournament. The only light illuminating the room comes from a computer monitor. Shane is surfing the internet, most notably, Valor's Official Website. As he reads through the bulletin board, he notices his name booked against Martin Paine. Not only that, but it is a scheduled title defense. This is the match Shane has been waiting for. He spins out of his chair and walks over to the light switch turning it on. He sits back in his tattered leather chair and spins towards the camera. He leans forward, as his eyes roll up towards the camera.]
Quickenbosh:
Well, this is it. This is the one opportunity that I have been waiting for. This Thursday, I get my chance at the Valor Junior Heavyweight Championship. Since the day I walked through the doors at Valor, it has been my goal to prove to all the fans, all across the world, that I am in the best Junior Heavyweight in this business. This past November, I achieved that dream.....sort of. You see, as the 2005 YLC Trophy sits on top of mantle, bighting my living room, I have to wonder and dream. I dream and wonder about the Valor JHW Title. A title, currently in the possession of one Martin Paine. The same Martin Paine, that I was able to defeat in my first round matchup.
[Shane leans back in his chair. He smiles for a moment, before he takes his serious face again.]
Quickenbosh: Martin Paine, I defeated you once. I pinned your shoulders to the mat and got the three count. This Thursday, Martin......lightning will strike twice. This Thursday, I get the opportunity that I have been dying for. A chance to put Valor gold around my waist. Being the 2005 YLC winner was great, but yet bittersweet. Winning the Junior Heavyweight Title this Thursday.........would make it all sweet. My chance to rise above the Valor Juniors and take that next step. To take the spot as the best Junior Heavyweight in the business today. There is no denying that Martin Paine is one hell of a technically skilled athlete. He is fine tuned technician and a man that can outwrestle just about anyone on this planet. His mix of technical attributes with strong style submissions, make him a very dangerous man. Me? Well, Shane Quickenbosh isn't really any one style or two. Shane Quickenbosh is a man who is a "jack of all, master of none." That means, I have modeled my style after many different types, yet mastered none of them. Adaptation is one the biggest weapons I possess in my arsenal. I can wrestle Martin Paine or I can match submission with submission with him. I can go strong style or really pick up the high flying. And the one thing I know is I will need every bit of my arsenal in order to beat Martin Paine. You don't become the Junior Heavyweight Champion, being nothing but lucky. Sometimes being lucky is better than being good. But in order to stay on top of this business and breed the success that Martin Paine has.......being good is a necessity.
[Shane stands up from his leather chair and walks closer to the camera. The chair spins in the background.]
Quickenbosh:
My flight to Annapolis is booked. I'm bringing an additional bag. Because I plan on bringing about fifteen pounds of gold home with me. In just three days, Martin Paine. In just three days, I take "The Extremist" to the EXTREME! And remember, Martin.......lightning has a habit of striking when you least expect it.
[Quickenbosh reaches over and flicks his light switch off. The dark room, only lit by the computer monitor has gone black. Shane walks out of the room, very quietly. He prepares for Thunder.]
