The camera comes into focus looking over a beaten up basketball court. The rims are bent if not completely gone. On the black top spray paint is painted on it from many different gangs marking their territory. The camera looks around and notices the basketball court is sitting in the middle of a park with many trees circling it. On the court are many leaves from the past falls, where no one has bothered to clean up the area. Circling the basketball courts is a steel fence. On the far side of the court is the entrance and exit of the cage. The sun is coming down and we look down at the black top once again and this time notices a shadow at the end of the courts. We look up and see Havok leaning up against the door of the cage. He has a toothpick in his mouth and he is twiddling his thumbs. He walks toward us with his hands tied behind his back. He gets up to the camera and stops. He whips around an orange basketball from behind his back and places it on the ground. He takes a seat on the basketball and plays with the toothpick in his mouth and he begins to speak.
Havok: What a sport basketball has become. It is a game that has been passed down from generation to generation. Starting as toddlers and some end up playing until they can’t do it anymore physically. Basketball isn’t all about how well you can shoot, it is also about how well you can play defense. You can be the number one scorer on the offensive side and be the worst defensive player and never get a scholarship for this sport. Well if you look at my match for round two of the Young Lions Cup tourney, you will see comparison between basketball and this very important match.
Havok gets up to one knee and begins dribbling the ball. He is crossing the ball in-between his right knee which is the one that is up. He dribbles it behind his back and is just showing off quite frankly. He then bounces the ball really high and he jumps up to his feet. As the ball crosses shoulder length of his body and brings his hands together grasping the ball with a loud thud. He looks into the camera lens and begins to speak.
Havok: The game of basketball is a strategy game to begin with. You got to know when and where to make your next move. You have to know how to play both sides of the ball. That is something my opponent during round 2 Johnny Arsenic does not know how to do. This man is in great physical stature but he also is all about the offense in a match. He wants to take full control of the match and hope he is able to overpower his opponent through the whole match. Well that is a good plan until you are up against the big dogs that bench press more than you can fantasize about bench pressing. Arsenic you have been able to power your way through Valor with ease, and now you have your buddy Tyme to back you up in Valor. If you haven’t noticed though, this isn’t Valor. This is completely different from Valor. This is the Young Lions Cup tourney. You have no allies in this tourney, your record is clean it is 1-0 and that is the only match you are held accountable for, none of your wins/losses matter now. This is for a trophy among trophies; this is for the Young Lions Cup trophy.
Havok begins bouncing the ball again only this time he continuously does lay-ups. The ball going through the bent rim from off the backboard. There is no net in the rim just a orange bent rim. He then stops and looks at the camera again and continues speaking.
Havok: Arsenic, as you watch my matches in Valor week in and week out you realize I have stature. I know how to play mind games. I know how to play both sides of the ball. To me you are intimidated and that is the truth. When you step up in the biggest game of your life there is no holding back. This match is like your grand slam of wrestling. This is your moment to hold yourself accountable to be the man to beat one of the quickest rising stars in professional wrestling. All I have to say about that is everyone is going to be watching, as your dedicate your match to Valor and to your team ATM. Everyone is going to see if you can only talk the talk and not walk the walk. Everyone’s eyes are going to be looking at you to see how great you truly are when it comes to one on one action. Don’t choke on your one shot at greatness, your one shot at making a name for not ATM, but for Johnny Arsenic.
Havok begins to take jump shots at about the middle of the court. Hitting most of the shots he takes. Missing a couple and picking up the rebound and lays it in with a lay-up. He continues to talk as he continues to take jump shots.
Havok: You see even the greats make slip ups. Even Michael Jordan misses a foul shot every once in a while during his prime. People make mistakes and they learn from them. Just like you will when you realize you are a much better competitor when you depend on yourself other than your backstabbing partner Tyme. Like I said even the greats make mistakes and they rebound off those mistakes. Just like when you took the opportunity to look down on me on Thursday Night Thunder not to long ago in Valor. Actually the date was October 20th, 2005 and it was the worst defeat you have ever received. Now you look back and realize it was a hard fought match and watching half the roster being in competitive matches with me doesn’t make you a loser. It makes you one of the family, Arsenic. Now you have the opportunity to overshadow me and make it one more step to greatness, but are you capable of a match like this. Are you ready for the responsibility to being the YLC’s trophy holder? If so all you got to do is beat me. One on one in the middle of the ring and I am eliminated and you don’t have to worry about me no more. Then your next opponent comes, are you going to be ready for that match? Are you going to be able to defend the honor of Valor by yourself? All these answers can only be answered if you beat me.
Havok takes a few steps back and is at the three point line. He begins shooting balls up in the air and isn’t able to hit one. He continuously grabs the rebound and walks back behind the line and shoots the shots. Unable to hit it he calmly continues to get his rebound and keep trying. He begins speaking to the camera as he is shooting 3 pointers.
Havok: Are you ready for the big time Arsenic? Are you ready for everyone to watch you as you make a name for yourself? Like Reggie Miller hitting three pointers at the buzzer to win the game for his team? Are you ready for those kinds of responsibilities? If not then you need to go back to step one and allow us on goers to move up the ladder and make a name for ourselves. It is your time to make everyone remember your name, but one other thing. It is my shot as well and I will have the fans backing me and I will stop at nothing to become the 3 point shooter at the buzzer to bring home the YLC’s trophy to Valor. So during round two, we aren’t friends nor enemies. We are fighting for the same cause and that is to bring home something to remember for years to come. That trophy will set in the trophy case of Valor whether you or I or any other member of Valor brings it home. The point of the matter is this. Make a name for your federation before the name for yourself. That is my number one priority. What is yours?
Havok then shoots the ball one final time and the ball bounces off the rim and bounces up against the backboard. It rolls around the rim a couple times before finally dropping. Havok looks at the camera one last time and finishes his speech with this comment.
Havok: Even the great ones need luck on their side once in a while.
Havok walks toward the exit. He swings across the basketball pole from another goal closer to the door. He then walks out the door and down the passageway of the park. The camera fades away starring at the orange basketball that was left from Havok. The ball is lying up against the steel fence and motionless. We cut to commercial.
