Fade in on Dave Masters and Pohatu sitting in a kitchen, the two of them laughing as if one of them had just cracked a great joke right before the camera came to life. This went on for about half a minute before the two finally calmed down, Dave Masters reaching across the table to pat his trainee on the shoulder.
Dave Masters: I'm proud of you, Pohatu, I really am. You came back from that disappointing performance in your VWA debut to actually royally kicking someone's ass and making them tap out within a minute. That's almost as good as Chris Benoit did with Orlando Jordan earlier this year!
Pohatu shook his head, lightly chuckling and gently brushing his trainer's hand off his shoulder, leaning back a bit before beginning to speak.
Pohatu: And it's only going to get better, Dave. You know that upcoming PayPerView, Halloween Horrors?
Dave Masters nodded to show that he understood, leaning back in his chair also as he listened to Pohatu speak.
Pohatu: Well, I went and talked to management...and it turns out that they're going to give me a rematch against Ryan Young, but they're also throwing in a couple of other junior heavyweights to make the match intresting.
Dave Masters: And who would those other two wrestlers be?
Pohatu: Martin Paine and Anthony Shadows.
Dave Masters: You mean the guy who just got allowed back onto Valor and the man who's ass you kicked in the tournament?
This got another burst of laughter from Pohatu, but this only lasted about fifeteen seconds before he calmed down, nodding to show that what Dave said was true.
Dave Masters: Well, we both know that Ryan Young should be a walk in the park, but only if you wear him do---
Pohatu: There's one more thing with the match, Dave.
Dave Masters: And what's that?
Pohatu: It's an Ultimate X match.
Dave Masters' eyes shot straight up, showing that he was obviously surprised at this bit of information.
Dave Masters: This'll be your third Ultimate X match since you debuted in less than a year. Are you sure you can handle it?
Pohatu: Of course I can handle it. Chris Sabin has been in almost every Ultimate X match since TNA opened up, remember? And they've only been going for about three years.
Dave Masters: Okay, but be careful. You know what you have to do in order to get Ryan Young pretty muchly out of the match, right?
Pohatu: Wear him down. Sleeper holds, headlocks, chin locks, etc etc. If I use those, he'll be so worn out that he probably won't be able to get up. Serves him right, too, for smoking. Dirty bastard....
Dave Masters: That's right. How 'bout Anthony Shadows?
Pohatu: I'm not really sure, but I'll just try to keep him grounded with some mat wrestling. Probably the only thing that'll work until I can figure out his style...
Dave Masters: Sounds like a plan. How about Martin Paine?
Pohatu leaned forward in his chair, rummaging through some papers that were on the kitchen table before finally pulling out a paper, the camera adjusting to show that it was Martin Paine's profile. Pohatu looked at it for a few seconds before setting it down and leaning back again.
Pohatu: Use my speed against him. He's a junior heavyweight, like everyone else in the match, but he seems to like to battle like a heavyweight does. Powerslams, Spinbusters, Tiger Drivers, STO, German Suplex....He also likes to use the brawling style. If I use my agility, rather than adjust to his heavyweight-style, he'll be so dizzy by the end of the match it'll be easy to pick up the win.
Dave Masters nodded and picked up three pieces of paper, setting them directly in front of him on the table, the camera coming around so that it could be seen that each of those papers were Pohatu's opponents. Dave looked at each of the papers for a few seconds before crossing his arms across his chest, his eyes refocusing on Pohatu.
Dave Masters: And the match itself?
Pohatu: Ultimate X is perfect for me really show my speed and everything else. While Martin Paine is trying to be a heavyweight in the ring, I can bounce off the ropes and hit the high flying moves, linking them through to technical moves to keep him grounded. If I'm lucky, I can use one of them to hurt the two before putting the third one down. Then it'll be a piece of cake to just scale the ropes and grab whatever it is they put in the middle of the X.
Dave Masters: Percisely. Damn, with all this skill you have, I'm surprised they don't just hand the Junior Heavyweight title to you.
Pohatu: They can't.
Dave furrowed his brows and sat forward a bit more, staring across the table to Pohatu, the junior heavyweight now having his eyes cast downward toward the ground. Dave Masters cleared his throat, causing Pohatu to tilt his head upward, now looking at his trainer.
Dave Masters: Why is that, Pohatu?
Pohatu: Because this is my last match as a part of the VWA roster. After this, I'm back to focusing on the YLC and...
Pohatu trailed off as his eyes went downcast again, but Dave cleared his throat again, Pohatu again looking up before a sigh escaped his lips.
Dave Masters: And what?
Pohatu: And with Shane Powers having finally opened up a new fed with FEW and JWA having gone under, I want to stay with him. I told management I would stay through the PPV and finish my YLC matches, but I'm done competing here afterwards.
Dave shook his head as he stood up, words that shouldn't be said on public television being heard escaping his lips as he started pacing around. Finally, after about a minute, the trainer stopped pacing and turned his head in Pohatu's direction.
Dave Masters: Alright, that's fine with me, but keep one thing in mind; I'm not going to be as willing to train you as I was when you first told me about the VWA. I came to train you while you were in this new federation in hopes that we would have quite a bit of time to get you ready for JWA again, but you just had to spring this on me.
Pohatu: I understand, Dave. That's why I suggest we start training harder then ever, starting now and not stopping until I'm back with the JWA stars in XWF. We train non-stop, before and after every single of my YLC matches, even my PPV match. I've got to leave an impact after I'm gone from this fed. Otherwise, no one will remember me.
Dave nodded and motioned for Pohatu to follow him, the two heading over to the basement door. As usual, Pohatu opened the door for his trainer and the two went down to the basement as we fade...to....black.
Dave Masters: I'm proud of you, Pohatu, I really am. You came back from that disappointing performance in your VWA debut to actually royally kicking someone's ass and making them tap out within a minute. That's almost as good as Chris Benoit did with Orlando Jordan earlier this year!
