The scene opens up in the middle of a corn field. Its so dark that you cannot see two feet in front of you. We are moving forward through the rows and we can hear faint footsteps its faint at first but gets louder as the footsteps move closer to us. We cannot make out his face or his body for that matter but it is obvious that it’s a mans outline. The man speaks and through the blackness of the corn field we can hear him speak.
“This place is a maze. Without light or a map I am lost. So many twists and turns. I honestly don’t know where I am going. It is the brutal truth that I may not get anywhere with the path I take but honestly I don’t care.”
We can see the dark figure move closer and closer. With each step another crunch from the field. He moves with a slow walk. As he gets closer we can make out more of his features. He has long hair and a leather jacket. It appears that he is wearing jeans and a white t-shirt underneath the black leather jacket. Before we can make out the features of his face he speaks again.
“This maze is one of many I have gone through. There are no tricks or patterns to follow. Most of the time its dumb luck. The only technique I use is if I have been there before I’m not going there again and that’s about it.”
The dark figure gets close enough to make out his face. With his eyes fixed on us we see that this man is Pryme! Walking forward until he is a couple feet in front of us he stops and takes his hand out of his jacket pockets so he can fun his fingers through his hair and light a cigarette in his mouth . Pryme stretches momentarily to pop his back and then stuffs his hands back into his jacket pockets. Pryme starts to walk again it is obvious he isn’t worried by the relaxed look in his eyes. As he walks by us we follow him until he reaches a fork in the corn maze. To the left is a wide path strait and flat, it is obvious that this could lead him out of the maze. To the right is a path which has no definite course, it looks narrow weeds and rocks are thick on the ground. Pryme stands and looks down both paths, as he does so he speaks.
“yet another decision to make. To the left is a strait course and will probably get me to the end quicker. To the left is a indefinite path that twists in its narrow width and makes it hard to get off of. Should I do what everyone else does and take the easy way or should I take the road less traveled and take the risk of not making it through? Hmm…I pretty much know where this path leads and the other I’m not so sure of. I think the path is obvious.”
Pryme takes a step toward the path on the right and continues toward wherever the path may lead him. As we follow him further and further down the twisted path its more and more obvious that its getting closer and closer to just closing off altogether. Everything was getting so tight Pryme had to continue with his body turned sideways to get through
The path. When it seemed he could go no further an opening appeared at the end of the path. At the sight of this Pryme moved quickly to the area where he could no longer be constricted by his husk prison. The moment Pryme walked into the opening we see that it is the end, but not the one he is looking for. The area is just a large circle with no corn in it. The only exit is the one Pryme came through. He looks around and sighs heavily. Apparently the path he chose led to a dead end. Pryme turned around and started to walk toward the narrow strip that was his apparent exit and stopped. Pryme takes his hand out of his pocket and looks at what he was holding. Pryme looks around and smiles as he begins to talk.
“I found the end of this path and it leads me here. There is no exit except for the way I came. It may seem hopeless to leave without heading back but this is just a test. Everything is a test. Right now it doesn’t matter which way I go now, because even if I went back the other way it would probably end up the same way. I know what to do now.”
With a smile on his face Pryme reveals the zippo lighter in his hand. As he flicks open the tops we can hear it. The sound is like a warrior unsheathing his dagger from its sheath. Pryme ignites the flame and tosses it into the field. The extremely dry corn field lights up like a Christmas tree. After a couple of seconds the field is bright enough to make out from space. The heat is intense but Pryme sits in the middle of the opening smoking the remains of a already lit cigarette. After a while the flames start to die down and you can make out a deserted plain with patches of burning corn her and there. Pryme walks toward the end of what remains of the corn field and speaks.
“ I could have done this from the very beginning, but then I wouldn’t have learned nothing. Its not so much the outcome of what happens but how it happens. At Halloween Horrors I am going against another obstacle that I must overcome. Voodoo is very talented and very passionate but I am not going to just stop and take the easy way out, im going to go as hard as I can, because nothing worth doing is worth doing one hundred percent. Even if I lose its going to end in a blazing glory. Just like this field one way or another im getting out of there on top.”
Pryme walks toward the end of the field as he slowly fades into the dark.
