[Fade In]
[Standing on Main Street in West Mars is Shane Quickenbosh. His buttoned up parka, keeping him warm from the cold winter air, he stands admiring the bright lights from the front window of Gruber's drug store. Gruber's has been in West Mars since the late 1800's. It is a landmark among the good people of West Mars.]
Quickenbosh:
It has been sometime since the last, I have spoken to the good people of the wrestling ranks. I have spent the last few weeks in Europe, working a few European federations as a proud member of the Valor roster. But I have returned from my hiatus. And the first thing I came about upon my return was that Valor had crowned its first ever junior heavyweight champion in Martin Paine.
[Shane turns his back to the store window.]
Quickenbosh:
Martin Paine is not a man that I am all that unfamiliar with. Martin, I had the distinct honor of wrestling you in my first round matchup in the 2005 YLC tournament. A tournament, in case you don't recall, I won. The best junior heavyweights gathered about and in the end, only one man stood tall as the best in the world and that man was me. It was I who defeated you, one on one, in the first round. And it was I, that went on to defeat the other 14 men to be crowned the first ever YLC champion. Now a month later, I return from an extensive tour of far away places to find another being called number one. Well, immediately, I felt the need to goto President Steven Lynch and ask for the opportunity. I asked for an opportunity to prove one more time that I am the best junior heavyweight in the business today. And President Steven Lynch granted my wish. This Sunday, I have the opportunity for an opportunity. Shane Quickenbosh versus Havok.
[Shane begins to walk down the empty street.]
Quickenbosh:
Havok is a man that was on the rise in the junior heavyweight ranks. He was a man that came from nothing and made something out of himself. He was a man that I had admired. Now, I turn on Holiday Havoc this past Sunday and I find that Havok has been corrupted. He has turned against the very people that have helped him climb the ranks of Valor. He has sold out to the almighty dollar and has joined the camp of Will Dinero, "The Money Man." And it cost you and it cost all the good Valor fans. You turned your back on them, so they in turn did the same to you. At Holiday Havoc, you tried every underhanded, cheating way to defeat Martin Paine, but you were unsuccessful. Even with Will Dinero in your back pocket, you fell short. This Sunday, you will come to a similar result, as you strive to obtain another opportunity at becoming the junior heavyweight champion. Because I want that opportunity and only one of us can have it. And that one is gonna be me.
[Shane stops and looks at the camera.]
Quickenbosh:
Havok, this Sunday I am going to step into Sunday Night Slam with the same opportunity as you. But the difference will be, I will walk out of Sunday Night Slam with that very opportunity. You Havok........you'll just walk out. Remember Havok......lightning, it has a habit of striking.....when you least expect it.
[Quickenbosh pulls his parka hood over his head and continues to trudge through the half melted snow. He walks off into the night.]
